About Us
Vision Statement
People in Georgia are free from domestic violence.
Mission
The mission of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) is to support its member programs to achieve safety and justice for domestic violence victims.
Guiding Principals & Core Values
• We value the right of victims to make life decisions based on being fully informed of all of their options.
• We commit ourselves to achieving true diversity among our boards, staff, clients and volunteers.
• We value safety and justice for all domestic violence survivors, including those devalued by society through the forces of racism, classism, homophobia, zenophobia, or based upon medical status, immigrant or refugee status, disability, age, occupation, homelessness, religion, substance abuse, mental illness or the need to resort to violence.* We value open and honest communication and respect for others.
• We value stewardship. We value strong fiscal management of the funding and programs we manage. We value integrity. We value doing the right thing even when one won’t get caught doing the wrong thing.
* ”Resort to violence” means to engage in self-defense, or to otherwise resort to violence in response to another person’s violence toward the victim and/or her children; not to gain power, control and dominance over another person.
Goal/Objective
• To Strengthen intervention programs which serve battered women and their children by providing education, consultation, training, technical assistance and referrals to direct service providers.
• To Inform and mobilize the general public on issues of domestic violence through workplace trainings, public presentations, involvement in statewide and local task forces, statewide conferences, and a quarterly newsletter.
• To effect policy and procedural change in order to improve the institutional response to violence against women.
• To identify gaps in prevention and intervention services and facilitate program development to improve service provision.
• To coordinate statewide services, including an automated toll-free hotline, a resource library, and referrals for victims and service providers.
