Women Of Color Caucus

The Women of Color Caucus (WOCC) works toward improving the quality of services provided to women of color who are victims and/or who work in the movement. This Caucus is made up of primarily advocates of color who work on policy issues and resource issues which have a focused impact on domestic violence victims of color and their children. The Caucus also serves as a resource to help evaluate legislative priorities, policy issues through the perspectives of women of color, considering the intersection of racism and domestic violence. GCADV is committed to dismantling discriminatory and racist practices that preclude women of color from equitable opportunities and services.

The Women of Color Caucus (WOCC) will operate in more region specific manner in order to meet the needs of all its members across the state. The new infrastructure divides the state of Georgia into regions. These regions have a regional representative. Volunteers are encouraged to apply for the limited openings to become regional representatives. Regional representatives will be issued tool kits assist them in getting started with their primary responsibilities’ of facilitating and carrying out the mission and goals of the WOCC, as set forth by members in that region. Technical assistance, support and coordination of the Women of Color Caucus statewide strategic plan(s) to end these injustices against women of color will be provided by the Statewide Liaison of the WOCC.

The Women of Color Caucus will hold leadership trainings, regional meetings, complete systems advocacy and meetregularly via chat rooms, web casting, face to face and teleconferencing.

Women of color have the highest fatality rate by guns in the United States and are thirty four percent more likely to experience domestic violence. Because of this the Women of Color Caucus implores you to become actively involved in our efforts to end violence against women and children of color.
